Responding to Fire

A firefighter never knows when the next big alarm will occur. Every time the long ring comes in, firefighters head to attack a dangerous and indifferent enemy: fire.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responds to more than 1,000 emergency calls every day. Today, more than 80% of those calls are emergency medical calls (EMS). Still, on an average of once a day, a significant fire breaks out in Los Angeles. Fighting fire has become a sophisticated and nearly military-like process.
